1. Selecting the Right Trap: We use a cage trap that is large enough to comfortably fit an armadillo.

2. Trap Placement: The trap is placed near the burrow entrance or along the paths where armadillos are frequently seen. Armadillos tend to follow consistent routes, so placing traps along these pathways increases the likelihood of capture. – Use physical barriers like wooden planks or fencing to guide the armadillo into the trap. These can help funnel the armadillo toward the trap entrance.

3. Baiting the Trap: Bait the trap with something that attracts armadillos, such as overripe fruit (bananas or apples) or earthworms and mealworms. We may use armadillo lure, which is a commercially available scent attractant.

4. Setting the Trap:  We ensure the trap door mechanism is functioning correctly to prevent escape once the armadillo is inside.

5. Monitoring the Trap: Check the trap frequently, ideally twice a day, to ensure the captured armadillo is not left in the trap for an extended period, which could cause stress or harm to the animal.

6. Handling and Relocation: Once captured we safely transport the armadillo to a suitable release site, typically a natural habitat far from residential areas.

7.  Humane Release: The armadillo is gently released into its new environment, ensuring it has immediate access to cover and food sources.

8. Post-Removal Measures: We advise the client on steps to prevent future armadillo intrusions, such as securing the property and removing attractants.
